We have Chartered status and our governing body is RICS, this ensures that we operate to the highest professional standards at all times.
Geotechnical & Environmental Investigations
With 35 years’ experience in a wide range of development projects, Sutcliffe is ideally placed to provide the technical expertise required to de-risk a development site either before purchase, during the planning process or throughout construction works.
Pre Planning Services
With the increasing reduction in suitable development sites, our team of experienced civil, structural, geotechnical engineers and building surveyors act as consultants & provide pre-planning services to undertake a technical review of a development site, highlighting any major risks to the development.

Sutcliffe is a highly respected, multi-disciplinary, BIM-accredited Chartered consultancy with offices in Liverpool, Manchester, North Wales and London. We have been established for 38 years with over 120 years of combined experience from our four directors, offering a wide range of services within the built environment. We use our retained knowledge in civil and structural engineering to produce high-quality solutions within all our core services from structural engineering, civil engineering, pre-planning services and throughout all aspects of building surveying.
Our dedicated team at Sutcliffe use a diverse range of skills and experience to deliver a superior level of service and engineering excellence. Sutcliffe proudly works across a wide range of sectors, assisting each client at every stage of their project, from inception and pre-planning services through to construction and handover.
The team at Sutcliffe have successfully contributed to the full refurbishment and modernisation of numerous projects across the UK and have introduced numerous state of the art new builds projects including schools, blue light departments, city centre restaurants, student accommodation, affordable housing and large scale regeneration initiatives.
Key projects for Sutcliffe over recent years include the Lime Street Gateway Project, the refurbishment of Tobacco Warehouse, Royal Liverpool Hospital, the 1,500-bed student accommodation for the University of Liverpool and over 10,000 new homes across the North West.
